Diverse citizen initiatives bring a new dynamic in the socio-cultural sector. During a field exploration of those citizen projects, Socius discovered that they often develop a special relation with a space or emerge from a spatial question.
That is why they invited Endeavour to map the relations between citizen initiatives and spaces as the starting point for an inspiration day and a publication De Kracht van de Plek.
Endeavour developed a conceptual framework to understand the spectrum of relations between citizen initiatives and spaces, from place-driven to place-based, and from a community building to a more politicizing role.
We interviewd 7 inspiring citizen initiatives and translated those conversations into 7 lessons about how citizen projects relate with spaces or spatial challenges.
